Handegg (Handeck) is a village in the municipality of Guttannen, Switzerland,[2] near the lake Gelmersee. The lake may be reached by Gelmerbahn from Handegg.

Geography

Handegg is located approximately 46 miles (75 km) east of Bern and 39 miles (63 km) northwest of Locarno.

Culture

Part of the permanent collection at The Cleveland Museum of Art is an oil painting entitled Alpine Landscape: The Handegg, Switzerland by French painter and sculptor Jean-Léon Gérôme which depicts the beauty of this locale still today, as it was during his world travels in the 1850s.[3]
