This article is a chronological list of Mario games.

Over the years, Mario has appeared in at least 140 popular video games to date, both with starring and less significant roles. Here is a chronological list of licensed games that Mario has appeared in.

Donkey Kong 1981 Nintendo EAD Arcade The game is an early example of the platform genre; gameplay focuses on maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging obstacles. The storyline is thin but well developed for its time. In it, Mario (originally called Jumpman) must rescue a damsel in distress from a giant ape named Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong 1982 Nintendo RD1 Game & Watch Donkey Kong for Game & Watch is a port of the arcade game, where Mario is a carpenter trying to rescue his girlfriend from an evil ape.
Donkey Kong 1982 Nintendo EAD ColecoVision, INTV Coleco's version is very close to the arcade, more so than ports of earlier games that had been done. Six months later Coleco offered Intellivision verson too.
Donkey Kong Jr. 1982 Nintendo EAD Arcade, Game & Watch, Atari 2600 Its eponymous star, Junior, is trying to rescue his papa, who has been captured by Mario, making his only appearance as the villain in a video game. This game is the sequel to the ultra popular Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong 2 1982 Nintendo RD1 (Game & Watch) In this game Donkey Kong Jr. is in trouble by trying to save Donkey Kong. He must watch out for things like crocodiles, birds and electric flashes.
Donkey Kong 1983 Nintendo EAD Atari 8-bit, Apple II, C64, MS-DOS, Famicom Donkey Kong ports for the Apple II, Atari 8-Bit, C64, Famicom, and MS-DOS.
