Ecto Cooler / Schlubs
Ecto Cooler / Schlubs is the 57th episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. It first aired October 14, 2005 on Cartoon Network.
Plots
Ecto Cooler
Billy wants to be the coolest guy at school since Sperg and his posse keep beating him up. Suddenly, a ghostly arm pops out of Billy's mouth, beating the bullies up. That night, while Billy was sleeping, he's sucking on Grim's head, sucking ecto-plasma. While Billy is brushing his teeth, the ghost of Lord Byron comes out as he spits. He turns Billy into a gentlemanly poet. At school, Billy was reciting poetry, which offends Sperg because it describes his mom. He challenges Billy to a showdown outside after school. Sperg gives Billy and Lord Byron a good beating. Afterwards, Lord Byron tells Billy to learn to appreciate who he is, and disappears. Back at Mandy's house, she also is sucking on Grim's head, and releases three spirits from her mouth, Attila the Hun, Rasputin, and Abraham Lincoln.
Schlubs
Grim's favourite soap opera, "My Troubled Pony"(a parody of My Little Pony), gets cancelled, leaving him to wonder what happens at the end. Grim needs money to finance the last season of "My Troubled Pony," but he doesn't have enough money. Later, he discovers a mushroom village in Billy's front yard, a home of the Schlubs, hundred small green fairy tale people. Grim realizes that he can get the money he needs by melting Schlubs into gold. But Schlubs aren't helpless as Grim expected, and he must make a good plan to capture them.
- The Schlubs are clearly modeled after the cartoon characters The Smurfs, both in appearance, the names which represent abilities(Kicky Schlub, Dorky Schlub, Eye Gougey Schlub), and the odd male / female dynamic. However, the Schlubs are green, and a lot more violent. Billy still thinks of them as their blue counter-parts, not realising that they are abusing and hurting him. He told Grim that they teach him to the advanced words, although the Schlubs haven't shown any signs of the English language.
- There was no Papa Schlub. One of the Schlubs looks like Irwin. The only female shlub is gigantic and monstrous.
End Credits
Grim saw the ending of "My Troubled Pony" Billy created. It was in a simply crude animation with crayons. Grim gave Billy two pennies.
