Navalur is a south eastern suburb of Chennai, India. It is situated in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, located around 24 km south of the city, along Old Mahabalipuram Road. Navalur is located between Sholinganallur and Siruseri and comes under Thiruporur taluk. The place was once a village but with the advent of IT Companies and the rapid development of the Old Mahabalipuram Road, it has become a bustling suburban. Navalur is an upcoming residential area with many number of Flats coming up, mostly professionals from IT companies renting and buying apartments.
Shopping malls like VIVIRA mall, Grand Marina mall are located in this area with presence of AGS cinemas and INOX multiplexes inside them respectively.
Moreover, Navalur has become a Shopping Hub for nearby areas like Chemmanchery, Sholinganalur, Thalambur, Padur, Kelambakkam, Thiruporur, etc.. due to availability of International brand stores in this area.
Sholinganalur-Navalur-Siruseri zone consists of around 40% IT professionals in Chennai especially in ELCOT and SIPCOT campus. Moreover this stretch will create another 1 IT lakh jobs in next few years since many builders are constructing Grade-A IT parks here. With this huge development in short period of time in terms of both commercial and residential developments, Navalur is considered as "The Next Velachery" in Chennai.
Also, Government is planning to construct Metro Train-Phase 2 along this route till Siruseri IT park.
