The April 2018 United Kingdom Heatwave is a period of unusually hot weather during Spring 2018, which is currently ongoing. The heatwave began on Wednesday 18th April 2018 with the temperature reaching 25.3 °C (77.5 °F) at St James' Park, London. A very unusual temperature for so early in the year. [2] The heat then continued into the 19th, when the highest April temperature for almost 70 years was recorded. 29.1 °C (84.4 °F) was recorded at St James' Park, London[3]. The current highest temperature ever recorded in April was 29.4 °C (84.9 °F), and was recorded back on 16 April 1949 at Camden Square[4]. Temperatures are expected to remain high, for the time of year, on Friday 20th. BBC Weather are predicting a maximum temperature of 27 °C (81 °F) in London tomorrow. [5]
