Alberta "Berta" Gardner is a Democratic member of the Alaska State Senate, of which she is the Minority Leader. She has represented District I, in Midtown, Anchorage, since 2013, after serving two terms in the state House, where she had served as Minority Whip. She is known in particular for her support of children in the state's public schools and for the interests of working Alaskans. She has focused involvement in the state and nationally, including in the National Conference of State Legislatures on energy issues and policy. She is a graduate of U.C. Riverside with bachelor's degree in psychology. She manages Brown Bear Software.
