Robert Geiss (born January 29, 1964) is a German businessman and popular face of German TV best known for his television series Die Geissens – Eine schrecklich glamouröse Familie in which he enjoys his luxurious jetset lifestyle alongside his family. He is married to Carmen Geiss.

Biography

Early years and success

As a teenager Robert Geiss did not want to go to school because he thought that "if you want to make money, you can not sit at school everyday". His father Reinhold Geiss was offering him to become a tradesman for his company. After his son had rejected, he went on holiday to Spain, where he bought a pair of fitness trousers that he liked.[2] When he was coming back home to Cologne, Geiss decided to design similar clothing for German fitness studios and founded Uncle Sam in 1986. Selling all of the products very quickly over the winter season, Geiss started buying shirts and pants for 10 DM in Turkey, selling them for 49 DM afterwards in Germany. When his business was at its height Geiss employed 120 people. Shortly after, Kaufhof AG wanted to buy the firm, which Geiss declined because of legal reasons.[3] In 1995 he finally sold his company for an undisclosed amount to an anonymous buyer and moved to Monaco with his wife Carmen.[4]

Return to work and family

After doing parties for 10 years and living the Jetset-life Geiss dreamed of, he started to engage in buying, refurbishing and reselling luxury real estate.[5][6] In 2004 his brother bought Uncle Sam back and is again CEO of the firm. Being friends with bankers in Monaco, he also invested in shares, which earned him money.[6] On May 30, 2003 his first daughter Davina Shakira was born, followed by a second, Shania Tyra Maria on July 30, 2004.[7]

Present: Die Geissens

Since January 2011 he is one of the main characters in the RTL2 TV series Die Geissens – Eine schrecklich glamouröse Familie alongside his family. In the beginning of March 2013 he started designing for his new label Roberto Geissini, which now is a popular fashion brand in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.[8] In May 2015 he opened a small luxury resort on his property in Grimaud near Saint Tropez.[9][10]
