Laura Joan Feyrer is a PhD candidate in Biology, working in the Whitehead Lab at Dalhousie University. She studies the distribution, connectivity and persistence of northern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus) populations along the slope of the Canadian continental shelf in the northwest Atlantic. Laura has Masters and Undergraduate degrees from the University of Victoria in British Columbia where she studied gray whales and their mysid[1] prey off the west coast of Vancouver Island.[2][3]

Laura is interested in improving science communication and accessibility. She has previously published studies in peer-reviewed journals[4], presented at academic conferences, wrote briefings and summary reports of scientific research for decision makers as a senior policy advisor, taught field studies for university and public education classes for naturalists. The northern bottlenose whale wiki article could be improved to share more of what is known of this species. This will be her first exposure to editing on wikipedia, with the goal of correcting, adding to, and maintaining this article in order to share accurate information about northern bottlenose whales.
