Welcome to my userpage–my name is Peter.

I approach editing Wikipedia as a slightly therapeutic endeavor, which helps to account for my edits being as scattershot and minimal as they are. I take exceptional joy in formatting citations. I appreciate the immense amount of work other people do that produces a generally reliable and usable Wikipedia that I can merely fiddle with at the edges.

However, I do have a rather strong opinion on one point. Given the reach of the English Wikipedia, in combination with the fact that English is used in a diverse array of communities worldwide, it's imperative that editors who are native English speakers and hail from the Anglosphere demonstrate patience and flexibility when editing or deleting pages that cover other parts of the world. Attending seriously to the systemic bias of the English Wikipedia requires strategies that empower editors that speak English as a second language, or a dialect of English that is perceived as "substandard", to contribute information to Wikipedia that Anglosphere native, and especially monolingual, speakers of English will not themselves know.
