Thanks for reverting the vandalism to my page. --Nlu (talk) 06:46, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
A review request
Hello. I know you're probably quite busy, but I've seen your name pop up several times on both Editor reviews and on active RfAs. You seem to have a fairly stringent series of requirements for both, which is exactly what I'm looking for. If you could spare some time, I'd love for your feedback on my Editor review (especially since I'd eventually like to submit an RfA. Thanks! EVula 21:08, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hello EVula. In fact, I was already planning to collaborate with your editor's review either later tonight or tomorrow. I saw your funny comment yesterday following my baby remark on User talk:ChrisGriswold. I immediately recognized your username but could not recall from where. I firstly thought that it could be from a recent RfA, but only after spending some time searching for your non-existent RfA I realized that it was from the editors review page. So I decided that I should participate in your review anytime soon. I'll go have dinner now and I'll gladly provide you with some feedback when I return. :-) Best regards.--Húsönd 21:22, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Long overdue thanks
I have a natural tendency to rebuke injustice whenever possible, so I was certianly not going to stand idly by while you were being wrongly accused of incivility! By the way, how did you manage to grasp 6 languages so well? That's very impressive. -- WGee 02:00, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well it's a very covetable gene, especially from the point of view of a student who aspires to speak French fluently someday. :^) And since you're taking math, would I be correct to presume that you're in secondary school like I am? -- WGee 02:31, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
edits to ESPN College Football Broadcast Teams
I removed the link to Jimmy Dykes on all of them because the Jimmy Dykes article states that he was a baseball player who died in 1976; therefore he cannot possibly be an announcer! The Jimmy Dykes who does sideline reporting for ESPN does not currently have an article. (153.104.80.121) 1:02 October 20, 2006 UTC
Sure, I'd be glad to help out with the portal. I already made one fix to the main portal page (just fixing around location). It is a good start so far, and I'll try to help out with the red links. Nishkid64 00:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the barnstar, Husond. =) Nishkid64 17:40, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well for my computer monitor (and in my web browser, Firefox), the selected picture is too big for the particular space it is confined in. I suggest resizing the image because it seems it would make it a better fit on the portal page that way. I'll change it from 300 to 250px, and see what happens. Tell me what also happens on your computer. Nishkid64 17:56, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's still a bit too big, but I guess it doesn't really matter now. Nishkid64 18:09, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Muchas gracias
Hey Húsönd, thanks a lot for supporting me in my recent RfA. It succeeded, and I am very grateful to all of you. If you ever need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Also, feel free point out any mistakes I make! Thanks again, —Khoikhoi 04:07, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Coffee lounge
I feel so terrible about what I wrote... Let me emphesize the fact that it was NOT meant to be a personal attack on anybody. I was complaining about smoking in general, not people who smoke. I've got nothing against you for smoking, believe me! The fact does nothing to lessen my admiration for you. Again, I am so sorry.

- Oh, you don't have to apologize! :-) I didn't regard your comment as even slightly offensive or unpleasant. So don't worry. Thanks anyway for contacting me, it shows that you have good character. Best regards.--Húsönd 19:45, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Sweet!
My first barnstar (or something like that) Thanks! - Mike | Talk 22:55, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

- This one would be fine, thanks :-). I'm trying to recruit a few people before it closes, at which point I'll either open a new one or simply copy this one to a user sub-page. - Mike | Talk 23:56, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Editor review
Thanks very much for your comments.
- I do RC Patrol occasionally. In fact I had the userbox until I simplified my userpage.
- I would like to install VandalProof, but unfortunately it doesn't work on Mac :-(.
- I will certainly try to improve my AfD participation. I'm rather new to it, as I really never had an interest before ;-). I'll try to pull myself together and use the right terminology when commenting as well.

Thanks a lot for your participation in my editor review! I'll do my best to adhere to your suggestions for AfD voting and get more involved with fighting vandals. Hope you enjoy this piece of digital iron! - Mike | Talk 01:06, 23 October 2006 (UTC) |
You're welcome. I've tried using popups, but I've actually found them to be annoying :-P. I have been using Godmode-light though, which emulates the "rollback" admin feature. Only trouble is that it doesn't provide an autmatic edit summary, which may come back to haunt me. I'm working on trying to fix that, however. Hope to see and RfA with your name on it soon. - Mike | Talk 01:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well I just got to use it on some guy who apparantly thought you knew why barnyard animals refrain from using toothpaste ;-). - Mike | Talk 01:31, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Haha. Wasn't aware, thanks. But really, all three of his edits have been vandalism, so to me that seems like his/her only purpose here. If I was an admin I probably would have blocked that IP for 24 hours if he/she did it again. Guess you can call me rouge :-). - Mike | Talk 01:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- I really appreciate all of the time your taking to type all this up! Just add this to your RfA when it's set up

My first award, how flattering! Yes, the temptation must be overwhelming, but I know you will be able to make it through these challenging times. Je via sano, Dar-Ape 02:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

CVU
Hey Husond, what's shakin'? (Please don't answer that.) Anyway, your words have instilled in me a want to protect Wikipedia; so I've joined RCP and CVU. I did a bit of anti-vandalisim and I got a few (Yee-haw!). Any tips or recomendations? I am currently using Lupins Tool, which do you use? Do you recommend VandalProof? Thanks, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 06:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Dfrg. Congratulations on your first steps into the wonderful realm of countervandalism. Here's some tips:
- I see that you're using Lupin's Tool, but perhaps you should aim for VandalProof. VandalProof is a powerful tool and I recommend that you try different vandal fight methods before installing it (such as manual or popup reversions).
- When you have developed a good eye for even the subtlest vandalism and gotten accustomed to the set of warnings (test templates) and reporting to WP:AIV, then I definitely recommend installing VandalProof. You may even try installing both VP1.3 and VP2 as they fight vandalism in very different ways.
- I see that you're using Lupin's Tool, but perhaps you should aim for VandalProof. VandalProof is a powerful tool and I recommend that you try different vandal fight methods before installing it (such as manual or popup reversions).
- Good luck, I hope to see you around during my patrol. Have a . Cheers.--Húsönd 14:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Editor review
Thanks for the pats in the back, and glad the review was useful for you. As you can imagine, a featured "something" is enough for those claiming 1FA, however making a featured portal sounds hard. Good luck with that! As for the parts where you lack experience, if you decide to post your nomination, explain your lack of experience in those matters and that you will try to stay away from them, at least until you have obtained enough experience, and that you will be focusing on what you do best, dealing with vandals and closing article deletion discussions. Again, good luck with your future nomination, and remember, failing once does not mean you won't have another opportunity. -- ReyBrujo 18:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

What?
We've been experiencing massive backlog at AIV, I was clearing a username that was blocked (by Master J, I believe). --172.193.49.5 01:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also, this revert was of many, many usernames I agonizingly checked off the list after making sure they were clearly blocked. (I'm on a craptacular dial-up connection). --172.193.49.5 01:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm very glad you were civil in your response, and I'm completely alright with the accidental reversal; however, I do not appreciate being told to get an account to be taken seriously. I can help with vandalism-not to mention contribute to an encyclopedia-without an account. I realize that being an AOL IP, I am the lowest of the low on the Wiki-food chain, but that does not mean I have any less rights than you or the next user. Remember: not all anons are idiots, and not all idiots are anons.
- Also, I've never once had problems with removing names from AIV. Typically, anyone can do it so long as the edit is constructive. --172.193.49.5 01:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I realize that my edits were in an administrator related area, but this is the billionth time I've helped out there-yes, under an IP-and I've never once had problems. And these were not self-suggested, your message implied that I was an idiot because I'm a set of numbers as opposed to letters. --172.193.49.5 01:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep in mind my edits number somewhere in the thousands, each and every one under an IP. My edits are always constructive, and I very rarely have conflict. --172.193.49.5 01:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- And therein lies the problem: my main static IP is no longer in use, as out internet connection was cut for a short period of time, thereby olbliterating it. --172.193.49.5 02:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Somebody has to do it. --172.193.49.5 02:09, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Happy Birthday from Editor at Large at Esperanza!
Hey, Husond! I heard it was your birthday, so I took the liberty of hand-making you a birthday card and sent it off on a Certified Esperanza Balloon. I hope the birds don't get to it first! |
Editor review
Hi how are you? Oh btw, is today your birthday?? Happy birthday! Wish you all the best and have a great day! I just want to beg you if you want to drop some lines on my editor review. Wikipedia:Editor review/Imoeng. Actually I was thinking to apply for adminship in the future, but I think my 3 months contribution is not enough for now. I like the way you review some other users on that page, so here I am, begging you to review me too :P. Cheers -- Imoeng 12:28, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you
Thank you for that really cool Barnstar, did you create it? I was really being honest in the review you should run for administratorship in the next couple of weeks or even days! Have a nice day-_12:35, 26 October 2006 (UTC)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Seadog.M.S (talk • contribs) .
To help you with your welcoming of new Esperanza members...
... TangoTango has kindly written up a script that once a week lists all of the new members to Esperanza. The list can be found at User:Tangotango/New members of Esperanza; it is updated once a week, and will show all of the new members since the last update. If you're not sure if everyone who joined the past week has been welcomed, that is a great place to check! I hope that helps you in your welcome, and thank you for making a point to greet new Esperanzians! -- Natalya 18:42, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's a good point, I've moved him to the former members section - thanks for mentioning it. -- Natalya 15:24, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Edit summaries
I noticed your link to the edit summary tool. Ran it on me and got a bit of a surprise. I have been using edit summaries for quite sometime now. Reviewing my last 500 edits shows that all of them have edit summaries. Any idea why this tool only shows me at 85%? Thank you in advance, and happy birthday! --Pascal666 18:55, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
IP removal from AIV
I'm not aware of a policy against this but apparently you told an IP not to remove already blocked user from WP:AIV and that this was an admin only thing. Is there a policy that says that? When I was not yet an admin I removed dealt with cases all the time and no on objected. JoshuaZ 01:52, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying that. The user in question is normally under the IP 69.145.123.171 is well known as never registering an account but having more contributions than most registered users. You are correct that when I helped out with AIV as a non-admin I was already registered. I've told him that when he gets his old IP available it might be more reasonable for him to make edits on AIV since many users are aware of his existence under that IP address. JoshuaZ 06:12, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the Barnstar!
Just like to say, thank you ever so much for the barnstar, it bought a smile to my face and I appreciate your kind comments. Once again, thanks for the barnstar, best wishes, and happy editing! Jam01 05:28, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
