This is a list of notable events in the history of LGBT rights that took place in the year 2018.

January
- 10 - San José/Costa Rica: The International Court for Human Rights in Latinamerica ruled, that governments have to allow same-sex marriages in their countries in Latinamerica. The high court decision is important for laws in Barbados, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Suriname.[1]
February
- 1 - Same-sex marriage becomes legal on island Jersey.[2]
April
- 12 - LGBT rights in Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago's High Court decriminalizes gay sex.[3][4]
- 18 - The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria allow the blessing of same-sex marriages.[5]
- 27 - The Evangelical Church of Hesse Electorate-Waldeck allow the blessing of same-sex marriages.[6]
May
- 7 - LGBT rights in the United States: The United Methodist Church (UMC) allowed in Chicago LGBT clergy and same-sex marriages in their churches.[7]
- 21 - LGBT rights in Scotland: The Church of Scotland voted in favour of drafting a new church law to allow same-sex marriages.[53] The new laws would give ministers the option of performing same-sex marriages and the Kirk is expected to vote on a final poll in 2021.[8]
