MY HERO by Jacob Esteen

A hero. When you hear that word you might think of Batman or Captain America or someone you look up to. They might have some good character traits like hard working, independent, and brave. Those aren't traits of an ordinary hero those are traits of my hero. My hero is my brother, Reginald James Esteen Jr.

My brother is my hero because He is very hard working. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia, so he calls us or we call him. At Christmas he usually comes to visit us. My brother had to work, so this Christmas he did not come. Even though he did not come, it shows he is hardworking because even though we are family he doesn't put off work so he can have fun with us.

My brother is independent, and when I say that, I don`t mean he drove a car at 7 years old and he washed his clothes at age 5. When my brother was growing up, he learned how to do stuff on his own. When my brother was in middle and high school instead of taking the bus or taking a car he either walked or took the public city service bus. In case you do not know what that is, it`s the bus that goes around the city, so my dad would give him a bus pass or he would get money to ride the bus.

Even though my brother is hardworking and independent, he is also brave and takes risk. My brother tells me a lot of encouraging stuff like “Team Works makes the Dream Work” all the time because my dad told him the same things when he was my age and older. My dad still tells him things like that and he`s in his 20`s. Another reason my brother is brave is because in middle and high school he played every sport like basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. Even if he wasn't good at the sport, he still tried. Then he practiced and became good at the sport. And he didn't just do school sports. He got up to a brown belt in karate and he does skateboarding and I do karate too.

My brother is hard working, independent and brave, and he is one of the best role models I know. My brother tries to be the best he can be at everything he does even if he is not good at it, he is still going to try is best, and he will not let anyone say he can't do it.
