Chinguetti is a town in north western Mauritania, lying on the Adrar Plateau east of Atar. It is known as a religious centre, and was formerly a focus for trans-Saharan trade routes.

Notable buildings in the town include Chinguetti Mosque, a former French Foreign Legion fortress and a tall watertower. The old quarter of the Chinguetti is home to five Koranic libraries.
