Plot
Manny comes to a new school and it is difficult to find a connection. Only his classmate Paige makes friends with him. When he finds a mysterious amulet, he hangs this over his dog Rufus. One night, Manny desires to go to bed, become more popular and make new friends. The next morning, Rufus transformed himself into a boy through the amulet, which possesses magical powers. Manny takes Rufus to school with him, where he quickly becomes the most popular student. This, in turn, makes Manny jealous as he misinterprets some of Rufus' actions, but Paige can explain the situation.
At the same time a gangster gang is looking for the amulet. They discover Rufus at the school ball, whereupon they kidnap Manny to lure Rufus into their hiding place. Together with Paige, however, Rufus succeeds in freeing Manny and overpowering the gangsters. However, the amulet breaks down and Rufus turns back into a dog.
