"Jump"
Song
B-side"History"

"Jump" is the fourth and final single from Madonna's latest album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. [1] [2] The song was written by Madonna, Joe Henry and Stuart Price. The expected U.S. release date is November 7, 2006 [3] with a UK release set for November 6, 2006 [4]. The song was released on iTunes in the U.S. on October 24, 2006.

Song information

The song was featured in the motion picture adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada. It was widely expected that "Jump" would be on the film's soundtrack but the song was not included. Another song "Vogue" by Madonna that also appeared in the movie was included on the soundtrack.

The single contains a previously unreleased track, "History ", available on the U.S. iTunes Store, length 5:55.

Peter Rauhofer announced on his site that he has made a private remix of "Jump". His version ("You Will All Jump For Peter's Remix") has not leaked.

As shown on the UK's national airplay chart Jump is gaining increasingly more radio/TV airplay in the UK then the previous single Get Together which reached #7 in the UK Top 75 Singles Chart. [1]

Music video

File:Mad-jumpvid.jpg
Madonna's music video for "Jump" (2006).

The music video was shot in Japan. Madonna is seen wearing a short, platinum blonde wig in a sequence captured on a sound stage. Madonna wore the wig out in public and during her Confessions Tour. Newspapers headlines the next day where about her new hair cut which turned out to be false. The video also features dancers running and jumping through the streets of Tokyo. Many of the various signs and billboards on the storefronts and buildings have been altered to read, "Madonna", and "Jump", in Japanese. Madonna shot the video while on the Japanese leg of her Confessions Tour. [5] The video premiered on AOL, then VH1 in the US, and on Channel 4 in the UK, all on October 4, 2006.

Madonna's look in the video seems to be a homage to Japanese manga Death Note character Mello. The manga is published in Jump Comics.
