Kavi Kumar Azad (12 May 1972 – 9 July 2018) was an Indian actor. He was known for his portrayal of Dr. Hansraj Hathi in the popular Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which airs on SAB TV.[1][2][3]

He was born in Sasaram (Bihar). Born and brought up in Sasaram, Azaad started taking interest in acting and writings. In his leisure time, he used to write poems. Soon after completing his studies, he went to Mumbai to try his luck in films. Before Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he worked in several short films as well as played small roles in some films. He also acted in 2001-2003 DD national TV superhero show Junior-G as a funny police inspector. He gained popularity from the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which was started in July 2008. He played the role of Dr. Hansraj Haathi, a resident of Bihar.
