Primeira Liga
Season2018–19
All statistics correct as of April 2018.

The 2018–19 Primeira Liga (also known as Liga NOS for sponsorship reasons) will be the 85th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs. Porto will be the defending champions.

The weeks leading up to the beginning of the tournament were fulfilled with several polemic cases:

  • Contrarily to previous years and since Gil Vicente was granted a place in 2019–20 due to a tribunal decision, three teams are relegated from 2018–19 Primeira Liga. Gil Vicente was against this solution since the club claimed for an immediate integration in the 2018–19 Primeira Liga (possibly with an enlargement to 20 participating teams).[2]
  • Following the incidents in Sporting C.P. where the team were attacked by supporters, 9 players left in judicial process with the club. Ultimately, after the president was dismissed, the club was able to convince some players to return but the new administration always admitted that the club would start the season in an early preparation phase.[3]
