Biography
Born April 16, 1973, Todd Reed has made Colorado his home for the majority of his life. In 1992 Reed began working for leathersmith Eric Hodges, fabricating the metal conchos for leather bags. Reed began teaching himself how to create jewelry from metal and colored gemstones. Even though Reed found a passion for creating jewelry, he enrolled in Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR and pursued his other passion for cooking. While attending school in Oregon he sold his jewelry designs at local markets. He moved back to Colorado after completing school and began making jewelry full-time and selling to galleries. Soon after, Reed was introduced to rough diamonds by collector Jack Greenspan. As his business grew he began incorporating more raw diamonds into his work. Reed was among the first U.S. designers to use raw diamonds in modern jewelry, creating a new category in fine jewelry. Today, Todd Reed is respected for his innovative designs and use of unique material. As president and owner of Todd Reed, Inc. he is seen as the jewelry industry leader in artisanal luxury.

Sustainability
Todd Reed looks at nature and sees it deeply. Its forms and rhythms, its patterns and textures—he draws upon it all. The soul of the planet is his inspiration. He's connected to the fact that its resources—diamonds and precious metals—are his media and deserve to be honored. All metals used for Todd Reed Designs are recycled and sourced from dealers who are certified. Todd is an avid supporter of the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI) who specifically aims to make diamond mining an engine for development by supporting diamonds that are mined responsibly, safely and with respect for human rights, in conflict-free zones while providing fair prices to artisanal miners. He also supports EarthworksAction.org, the No Dirty Gold Campaign, Jewelers for Children and a number of other organizations that benefit our communities and seek to improve the overall impact of the jewelry industry on the environment and the community. Todd Reed purchases diamonds from a select group of reputable dealers who source from various diamond-producing countries including Africa, Australia, Canada, India and Russia under the full Kimberly Process Certification Scheme.[6]
Forged as One
The core expression of Todd Reed, Inc. brand promise is that all works are handmade. This value became codified in January 2017 when Forged as One was launched. Forged as One communicates the relationship between designer Todd Reed and his studio of artisan makers. A personal maker's mark, created for each artisan, is stamped into each piece they make. Together with the Todd Reed hallmark, the combination of the company hallmark and the maker's mark illustrates the essence of Forged as One; it acknowledges both Todd Reed as the designer and each of the artisans who brought the piece to life. The marks guarantee that each piece is unique and handmade. Pieces made during the 25th Anniversary year were stamped with a special "25" mark.
