Edward Lawson was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Details

He was 24 years old, and a Private in the 1st Bn., The Gordon Highlanders, British Army during the Tirah Campaign, India when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.

On 20 October 1897, during the attack on the Dargai Heights, Tirah, India, Private Lawson carried a lieutenant of The Gordon Highlanders, who was severely wounded, out of a heavy fire. Subsequently, although wounded himself, he returned and brought in another casualty.
