"The River" Released: 23 August 2018

WAX is the sixth studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, and the second album in the KIN trilogy. It is to be released on 5 October 2018 worldwide, following up the first album of a trilogy KIN. The first single off this album is The River, released on August 23rd.

Background

Tunstall announced the release of a new album called "WAX" through Facebook on 23 August 2018. In early 2018, Tunstall announced that She had started working with Nick McCarthy from the Brit band Franz Ferdinand, who is to co-writer and producer from this new LP. She also announced that the album would be the second of a trilogy following the themes of soul, body and mind. Following the success of 2016’s KIN, WAX will focus on the body and our complex relationship with physicality.

Songs and singles

The album is set to be composed of eleven tracks. The song "The River" was picked as the first preview of the album. In an Instagram live show, Tunstall said she had written it with Martin Terefe (with whom she wrote Drastic Fantastic's "Funnyman" and To The Other Side Of The World a few years ago. She decided to work on it, and put it on the new record. Among the tracklist, a remix of "The Healer" from her Golden State EP is on the album, as well as a song she played live before, called "Poison In Your Cup".
