Leksand Municipality
Leksand is a Municipality in central Sweden, in the Dalarna province, administratively in Dalarna County. Its seat is in Leksand with 15,391 inhabitants (noted March 31, 2006), situated at 60°44′N 15°00′E / 60.733°N 15.000°E.
Other towns are Insjön, Siljansnäs, Tällberg and Djura. Also significant, half of the municipal population live in the 94 villages surrounding the town of Leksand itself.
Geography
Geographically the municipality is located alongside the Dalälven, (Dalecarlia River), and the town is at the southern shore of lake Siljan.
The culture is marked by being in the heart of the culture rich Dalarna. There is a substantial old town section in Leksand, with preserved old cottages as a landmark.

Notability
One of Sweden's best ice hockey teams is Leksands IF. NHL goaltender Johan Hedberg, also hails from Leksand.
