Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 47.201.190.53 (talk) at 14:35, 8 September 2018 (Michael Mamas). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

    Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

    Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

    This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

    This page is a draft that is awaiting review to become published, please restore there's no back up for the hardwork done on this article. Thank you —Davis Lewis (talk) 06:19, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • Hi Davis Lewis, it looks like the draft was never submitted for review - I'm willing to restore it, but this draft will need a lot of work before it's ready to be accepted. The page is fairly promotional in tone and has no coverage from independent, reliable sources that could establish notability, as the sourcing is almost entirely taken from the company's website or social media sites or places that wouldn't be seen as notability-giving on Wikipedia. The promotional tones are also a big issue, as things like "making it a good source for advertisement and commercials" are very, very promotional and would need to be completely removed from the article. As it stands, much of the draft would need to be either removed or re-written so I want to make sure that you're aware of the further work that needs to be done before restoring. ReaderofthePack (。◕‿◕。) 14:15, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello ReaderofthePack, Yes all that will be removed and reconstructed, thanks for pointing them out.

    Draft:Wayne Dupree

    Article went through AfD in Feb 2017 and was deleted. Since then Dupree has received more coverage, A Washington Post article Feb 2018 is now the first reference in the lede has been added to the article that wasn't there in 2017. Also added a Feb 2018 Slate magazine article as reference two, and a link to his appearance on Fox News as a Political commentator in Feb 2018. Please restore for inclusion into WP. Thanks. —18:26, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Cllgbksr (talk)

    If you review the draft article talk page you will see another editor was about to approve it for BLP on 082818, after I submitted it for review again, but then apparently saw it had been deleted in AfD Feb 2017, and is now requesting I submit it through this process. If I'm reading his notes correctly. Cllgbksr (talk) 19:08, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    @Cllgbksr: I won't be reviewing this myself as I'm involved, but could you please email me a copy of the Washington Post article so that I can have a read of it? Thanks SmartSE (talk) 19:16, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Smartse: If you click on the draft of the article, it is reference number one for the lede. But will email it. Thanks. Cllgbksr (talk) 19:29, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Cllgbksr: Yep but it's paywalled. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 19:30, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Smartse: I just emailed it. Thanks Cllgbksr (talk) 19:49, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    No response yet to my request on Dupree draft, will wait until September 7, 2018, after that if still no response will move draft into mainstream, will deal with any AFD nominations should they occur at a later date. Thanks. Cllgbksr (talk) 20:08, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    user:Sunnytsawwassen who uploaded it said this: "image uploaded in error - not free use". This user also mentioned "Property of the Tsawwassen Business Improvement Assocation". So really there should be an WP:OTRS email from the Tsawwassen Business Improvement Assocation to confirm this free license rather than a statement from an IP address that we cannot link with the picture. • Graeme Bartlett I am that user user:Sunnytsawwassen, and we are the Tsawwassen Business Improvement Association. We are the (intellectual property rights) owners of this image and do not want it to be in the Creative Commons and therefore shared as though it were a stock photo. It was never intended to be shared there and as such were are correcting any error/misunderstaning made through it having been uploaded. Please inform me about in which manner I can send that email and to whom and I will do so. —Preceding undated comment added 07:59, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
    If you do not intend the photo to be shared then do not use a creative commons license. Most images here should be under free use, for any one to copy and use. There is some WP:Fair use happening here, but the photo mentioned above could be easily replaced by a free use one, so fair use could not be claimed. Read Wikipedia:Contact us - Licensing to see the email address, if you did intend to official prove that you represent Tsawwassen Business Improvement Assocation and can upload content and license on their behalf. • Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jannquell Peters, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user DGG (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. You may be able to get this converted to a draft. But please read WP:Autobiography to see if you want to do this. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:26, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    {U|Pancpet}}, I closed as "delete" on the basis of unanimous consensus at a full discussion. I could not possibly have closed otherwise, and I think on the basis of experience that this is what you will be told as Deletion Review. Looking again at the material, if you want to try a new article, I do not see the point of trying to make an article until you have substantially better references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, that report significant accomplishments, not trivia, and until you learn to in an NPOV manner. As Graeme has indicated, the barrier of acceptance for autobiographies is quite high, because of the obvious difficulty of writing objectively about oneself. I realize that this is a special case, because the article was deleted as G5, by a sockpuppet. However, Draft:Joseph K. Taussig Jr. is in draft space and being worked, and the two pages have somewhat different content, and a good-faith editor should be able to consolidate them. If this isn't permitted because the rules are the rules, please advise as to whether there is some other way to get the deleted article, such as DRV, but I don't think that the deletion was in error, only that the subject of the article may be notable. Java Champions

    The original page was awful and correctly flagged for deletion. It was then re-written to be factual and useful. It was also providing external references. The page wasn't perfect but a decent first version. However, I think I failed to comment in the discussion after the re-writing. So, I think the page was deleted without being re-read. Java Champions are an important group in the Java community and the computer engineering world in general. Anyone using the Internet is using something written by them. Draft:Y La Bamba (Band)

    I would like to finish this Article. I believe that it received too much criticism in its approval process. This is a noteworthy band that has received a lot of press. I don't understand why it was so difficult to get it approved. Also, I don't have a lot of time to spend editing and submitting. But, I feel that it would be a big waste of time and effort if this page is not approved. The band been written about in the New York times and on NPR and has much more noteworthy press than many bands that have been approved on wikipedia for just a basic page that lists their existence. I don't even really like this band at all. They are very prominent in the Portland, OR music scene though and I thought it was ridiculous that they haven't been recognized yet for a wikipedia page. Anyway, sorry! I don't mean to cause any turmoil. I just think it is really frustrating to try to create an article for submission and then it gets deleted. Granted it has been months since I first submitted it. But, I would've hoped someone else would've taken it upon themselves to help see it through to being accepted. Thank you for your time and effort! —Yesterdaysfire (talk) 23:34, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Talk:F-TYPE SVR and other talk pages created by 125.36.186.108

    There are three things in common with these four talk pages. First, they were all created by 125.36.186.108. Second, they were all deleted as CSD G8. Finally, looking at the deleted creations, the sizes indicate that they were most likely drafts misplaced in the talk namespace. They should therefore be restored and moved to Draft:F-TYPE SVR, Draft:Nicole Hunter, Draft:Malcolm Tedworth, and Draft:Rak (James Goode) respectively. —GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:41, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
