"Pilot" is the pilot and first episode of the first season of the American television series Manifest, revolving around a flight from Jamaica to New York City which experiences a brief period of severe turbulence, undetectable by radar, but is otherwise routine. When they return, the passengers and crew of Montego Air Flight 828 learn that they had passed five years during the travel. The episode was written by series creator Jeff Rake and was directed by David Frankel.
Production
Development
On August 23, 2017, it was announced that Manifest had a put pilot commitment at NBC. The pilot was written by Jeff Rake and directed by David Frankel. Jeff Rake, the creator, was set to executive produce the show with Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine and David Frankel.[1]
Casting
In February 2018, Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh and J. R. Ramirez were cast as series regulars.[2][3] In March 2018, Athena Karkanis, Parveen Kaur and Luna Blaise joined the main cast as well.[4][5]
