(IPA: [ˈiːfʲə]) (pronounced EE-fa) is an Irish female given name. It is commonly regarded as an Irish language equivalent of the female given name Eve. However this is incorrect as the names have very different origins. Suggestions that "Aoife" means "radiant beauty" or is derived from the Irish word "aoibheann" (sweet) are likewise not supported by any philological evidence.
