Little Women is an upcoming remake of the 1868 Louisa May Alcott novel of the same name. Greta Gerwig has written the screenplay and will direct the feature this coming fall in Boston. The film will star Saoirse Ronan as Jo March, Emma Watson as Meg March, Timothee Chalamet as Laurie Laurence, Meryl Streep as Aunt March, and Florence Pugh as Amy March.

Production

On 6 August 2016, Gerwig was announced to re-write the screenplay for Amy Pascal and Sony Pictures, taking over from Sarah Polley[1] On 29 June, 2018, it was announced that Saoirse Ronan, Emma Stone, Timothee Chalamet, Meryl Streep, and Florence Pugh were all in-talks to star; and that Greta Gerwig will direct her second solo-directorial feature. [2] On 3 July, 2018, it was confirmed that Meryl Streep will play Aunt March, and that the film will focus on the sisters' young adult lives jumping back in forth in time. [3]

On 17 July 2018, Sony Pictures announced that the film will be released on 25 December 2019. [4]
