The University of Auckland Law School is one of the seven faculties that make up the University of Auckland. It forms part of the city campus but is separate from what is termed the "main campus", sitting between Waterloo Quadrant and Eden Crescent, in buildings formally used by the Auckland high Court, and prior to tht used by an ice cream manufacturer, leading to it's nickname, the ice cream factory. One court room has been retained unaltered for moots. It is accessible by a right of way down a small hill. Initially the entrance was from Eden Cresent - the far side to the rest of the university campus. On the hill facing the main campus, only a mud track existed, existed, nicknamed the Ho Che Minh trail - this was paved when the Davis Law Library was completed.

Until 1991, the Law school was formerly based on the top of the University Library building. After the School of Business and Economics moves into the new Owen G. Glenn Business School, the Law School will move back up to the main campus and take up the space currently occupied by Upper and Lower Lecture Theatres, Commerce A and Commerce B. Old Choral Hall will become the new Law Library. It is envisaged that the move will be complete by 2009, as this is when the Law School's lease with the Melanesian Mission Trust expires. However, as the new Business School building will not be fully finished until the end of 2008, there have been rumours that the reunification of Law School with the main campus may be delayed by up to five years.
