Why is the Girl Brown?

So this isn't a racist song, right?

No, it's not, but it does make sense to ask why the girl is brown. If the song is based on ring dances that originated in Jamaica "many centuries ago", then wouldn't (nearly) all the girls taking a turn in the ring be brown? Why not just say "a girl in the ring" or stick in some other adjective to fit the rhythm, such as "there's a quick girl in the ring..."Martindo (talk) 13:29, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lawsuit
