Xie Jianshun was a Taiwanese intersex man who gained considerable fame in 1954 when his condition was discovered by doctors of the Republic of China Armed Forces. He was considered by many to be the first Chinese "transsexual" and Xie was frequently dubbed as the "Chinese Christine" due to both of them having been soldiers.[1] Despite this Xie did not want to transition to a woman but was forced to do so by medical professionals.
