The Giants Challenge is a one-day mountain-bike marathon held in April in the rugged and picturesque Giant's Castle area of the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa.[1][2][3][4] The course is 75 kilometres of scenic terrain through the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, and is widely regarded as one of the toughest of South Africa's MTB marathons.[citation needed]

Riders take between four and nine hours to complete the course, which includes several kilometres of compulsory portages, fast downhills and cold-water river crossings.
