Susan Montee
Susan Montee (born 1960) is the County Auditor of Buchanan County, Missouri and the [[|Missouri State Auditor|State Auditor elect of Missouri]]. Montee, a Democrat, won election in November 2006 and is scheduled to take office in January 2007.
Montee was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. She received her undergraduate degree in accounting from Drury College in Springfield, Missouri and later attained her CPA designation. In 2000, she obtained her law degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
Montee was elected to an at large position on the St. Joseph City Council in 1998 and was elected Buchanan County auditor in 2000. She was re-elected to a four year term as county auditor in 2002. In 2006, Montee sought and won election was Missouri State Auditor, defeating her Republican opponent, Sandra Thomas. Her win came with 52.8% of the vote compared to Thomas's 43.4% and others with 3.8%. The seat was vacated by Claire McCaskill in her successful run for the U.S. Senate seat from Missouri.
