Dokarichanchara is a picnic spot and tourist place situated in Khaligarh village,Koksara,Kalahandi,is known as the most famous historical and ancient places of Kalahandi district.[1]

About

It is located in Ampani Sanctuary,which falls on the border of Kalahandi and Nabarangpur district.It is a completely different and very unique place than others in Kalahandi district.This place has a very rich and beautiful heritage in both historical and mythological connections of Kalahandi district.Dokaridara and Bhanyaraghumara (or Bhairav dhar) are the two most beatiful waterfalls in Dokarichanchara.The Gudahandi cave is filled with pre-historical literatures, pictographic inscriptions and drawings crafted on the stone walls, is another beauty of nature which makes Dokarichanchara even more beautiful.[2]


Tourism

About 80 years ago, A temple of God Rama was built in this place.So Ram Navami,a 9 days long festival occurs every year,which attracts tourists from different corners of Odisha[3] .Peoples also Come to visit Waterfalls and the Gudahandi Hills.This place is very crowded between October to June.

Bhubaneswar-Bhawanipatna-Junagarh-Dharamgarh-Behera-Ampani

'Bus' is the most convinient way to reach this place from the distict headquarter Bhawanipatna is is around 84kms and from state Capital Bhubaneswar it's about 485kms by road.There are many private buses run daily from Ampani to Bhawanipatna and Bhawanipatna to Bhubaneswar and Vice-versa.[4]
