Dimitrios Kalligeris

Dimitris Kalligeris (Greek: Δημήτρης Καλλιγέρης), (born in Athens 1949 - 05.12.2011), was a Greek football player who played as a right forward for Panathinaikos FC during the period 07/1970 - 06/1972 and later for Kalamata FC during the period 07/1972 - 06/1974. http://www.gazzetta.gr/article/item/187705-mou-xanarhodai-ena-ena-hronia-doxasmena

He started his career at the Panathinaikos FC football academy system. He played for Panathinaikos for two years making 27 appearances in the Greek league and 5 appearances in European matches. He won 2 league titles with the "Greens" and was one of the players that took Panathinaikos to the 1971 European Cup Final v. Ajax Amsterdam. He played in the following 1971-1972 European Champions Club Cup (now UEFA Champions League) matches: 16/6/1970 Jeuness d' Esch vs. Panathinaikos: 1-2, 9/30/1970 Panathinaikos vs. Jeuness d' Esch: 5-0, 21/10/1970 Panathinaikos vs. Slovan: 3-0, 4/11/1970 Slovan - Panathinaikos:2-1, and 28/4/1971 Panathinaikos vs. Red Star: 3-0. http://wiki.phantis.com/index.php/1971_European_Cup_Final#vs_Jeuness_d.27_Esch. He did not play in the European Cup final against Ajax, and the match against Penarol in Montevideo for the Intercontinental Cup. He was transferred to Kalamata FC where he played for two more years.

After retirement, he lived in Thebes. He owned a restaurant and he was an amateur hagiographer. He died in a car accident in the Athens suburb of Nea Ionia. [1]
