WWE Worlds Collide Tournament[1][2] is an upcoming two-day professional wrestling show and WWE Network event produced by WWE for their 205 Live, NXT, and NXT UK brands. The event will take place on January 26 and 27, 2019 at Royal Rumble Axxess and will air on the WWE Network at a later date.
The event will feature a 15-man tournament (with the wrestlers divided equally between the NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live brands), and the winner will receive a championship match of their choice for either the United Kingdom, NXT, or (if they are within the 205 lb. weight limit) the Cruiserweight Championship.[3]
Storylines
The card will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WWE's writers on the 205 Live, NXT, and NXT UK brands,[4][5] with storylines produced on WWE's weekly television shows, NXT, NXT UK, and the cruiserweight-exclusive 205 Live.[6]
The winner of the tournament will receive a championship match of their choice for either the United Kingdom, NXT, or Cruiserweight Championship (the latter only being an option if the winner is within the 205 lb. weight limit).[3]
On January 10, a 15-man battle royal was announced for the event. The order of elimination in the battle royal will determine the first-round matches for the Worlds Collide tournament. The winner of the battle royal will receive a bye to the second-round.[7]
