Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Daniel "Danny" Kaler Fenton (talk | contribs) at 12:34, 2 February 2019 (The most voluminous stars: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of pages and files which have already been deleted. If the page you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that pages deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

    Instructions for special cases

    Draft:Anura Srinath

I, TheStalking302, request the undeletion of this draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. TheStalking302 (talk) 09:49, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done – as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. Please edit the page to address any issues raised, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia.
    @TheStalking302: The draft has been restored. —C.Fred (talk) 15:45, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Quasi-coherent sheaf on an algebraic stack ‎

G13 (the contrary to the deletion reason, I don't believe the topic/the materials in the draft page are unsuitable for Wikipedia). —Taku (talk) 03:40, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TakuyaMurata: This draft was undeleted back in July, and no work was done on it in the intervening six months. Draft space is not for the indefinite storage of material. If it's undeleted, will you put in some work on it this time? —C.Fred (talk) 03:44, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"indefinite storage of material" for the materials not suitable for Wikipedia. The topic is not well covered in mainspace so the draft page makes sense. -- Taku (talk) 03:49, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TakuyaMurata: You didn't answer the question. Do you intend to work on the draft, or are you just using Wikipedia to store the material indefinitely? Wikipedia is not a free webhost. —C.Fred (talk) 03:52, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Because the question is irrelevant (though I have a track record of finishing draft pages). This draftpage is meant to resolve the gap in the coverage in mainspace; so "free webhost" doesn't apply. To repeat, the draftspace is not "indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia.". Also note WP:DEADLINE; a draft page need not be finished in 6 months. If the question is whether the page is some kind of my personal page/note, the answer is no; the page is intended to be finished by me or others. -- Taku (talk) 03:56, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
When you request a draft be undeleted and then do nothing with it for six months immediately after then the question is very relevant. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Bori! 08:39, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, the undeletion doesn’t mean the editor who requested for undeletion need to work on the undeleted page; there is no such obligation attached to it. —- Taku (talk) 09:14, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What is relevant is whether the draftpage is about a topic that is well covered in mainspace or not; the draftpage is needed and the deletion is only a step back not forward (since the topic has to be covered in the future). So why delete the draftpage? Which will be restored or recreated anyway? (ranting) —- Taku (talk) 09:16, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Draft:Walks on ordinals

    Draft:Genus of a group

G13. If I remember correctly the content of the page, there was no particular need for this draft page to be deleted. —Taku (talk) 05:35, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    • Entire content was "The genus of a [[group]] is the minimum genus of a [[Cayley graph]] for this group <ref> The Wikipedia article [[Genus (mathematics)]]</ref>". Still want it restored? —Cryptic 05:39, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Why not? It’s not a made-up topic and Wikipedia lacks an article on the topic. (The content doesn’t seem problematic at all). —- Taku (talk) 08:00, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia-Team, my page containing information about myself, Marietta Piekenbrock, has been deleted in April last year. Since then I contacted Wikipedia several times, but got no answer. I received this: Ticket#: 2018051510010178

I would love for you to look into that matter. This Page is very relevant for my as a figure of public interest.

    Best from Germany,

Marietta Piekenbrock — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mashlab (talkcontribs) 11:36, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The English Wikipedia page Marietta Piekenbrock here is not deleted. The German version de:Marietta Piekenbrock was deleted as a suspected copyright infringement. Do you own the copyright on the material copied into the German Wikipedia? Can you tell us where it came from? The ticket number would be in response to an email sent to the OTRS team. Using OTRS from an official email can be used to prove a copyright release (under CC-BY-SA-3.0 for example). You can ask :de:Benutzer Diskussion:Doc Taxon about the German deletion. We cannot help you here as this is the English Wikipedia. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:54, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikisharktank: Sources written by the subject do nothing toward establishing notability. And the Globo source is an interview, a primary source, and therefore also doesn't establish notability. If definite examples of significant coverage can be shown, I would restore this to draft space for improvement, but given what you've offered so far, I must decline and defer to the deleting admin Randykitty (talk · contribs). ~Anachronist (talk) 18:34, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Joel B. Rudin

Article was flagged for speedy deletion as "unambiguous advertising." I've read the WP:NOTPROMOTION guidelines and I think this deletion was in error. First off, I am not in any way affiliated with this person. I want my contribution to Wikipedia to be in the field of civil rights law, and specifically notable people and events concerning wrongful convictions. I think we can all agree that wrongful convictions are a matter of public concern. Indeed, numerous famous lawyers in this space have Wiki pages (e.g. Barry Scheck, Ron Kuby, Peter Neufeld). Joel Rudin belongs in that group. Moreover, I do not know what RoySmith thought was not "neutral" about the article, but I assigned summer interns (college students) to collect publicly available information on Rudin and put together the article. None of them has ever met the man nor do they know who he is. So I have a hard time believing they were not "neutral" in what they wrote. I completely get the desire to exclude self-promotion on Wikipedia, and I have seen quite a bit of it that has slipped through the cracks, including with lawyers. But our Rudin article was not an instance of this. Please review our contribution under the WP:NOTPROMOTION guidelines and consider un-deleting it. Thank you. —Dbsscmjw (talk) 22:00, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Enter your reasoning here The page was up for 6 or 7 years then suddenly it was one for no reason, and i was not givven an opportunity to make changes. I understand that the big health insurance companies have a lot of money, and that their lobbyists do not want the kind of things i do in regards to making healthcare accessable and affordable to all, but letting special interests dictate content on your sign will not fix the problem and then click the "Publish changes" button below —Route3 (talk) 21:18, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request.
