Maharashtra

Maharashtra (Marathi: महाराष्ट्र mahārāṣṭra, IPA [məharaːʂʈrə]ⓘ) is a state located on the western coast of India. It is India's third largest state by area and second largest by population.

Marathi is the official state language. In Megapolis Bruhan Mumbai, Marathi, Urdu, English, Hindi and other languages are also spoken. In the northwest portion of Maharashtra, Khandesh, a dialect Ahirani is spoken by a minority. In south Konkan, a dialect known as Malvani is spoken by most of the people. In the Desh region, a dialect called Deshi is spoken, in the south east Deccan region Deccani dialect is spoken, while in Vidarbha, a dialect known as Varhadi is spoken by most of the people. In Maharashtra we can find people of many religions. Mostly people from all over India have migrated here for business purpose. Mumbai is capital of maharashtra which is also financial capital of India. Second capital is Nagpur.

Divisions Scope

WikiProject Maharashtra is a collaboration to create, improve, and expand articles related to Maharashtra, its history, dialects, and culture.

  • The project will cover all aspects of Maharashtra-related articles from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Goals

  1. Creation of a generally standard look and feel for all Maharashtra-related article
  2. To produce as many Featured Articles as possible related to Maharashtra.
  3. To standardize the Maharashtra related articles in Wikipedia.
  4. To improve Wikipedia coverage of Maharashtra related articles by adding, expanding and improving Maharashtra related articles.
  5. To serve as a central point of discussion for issues related to Maharashtra related articles.
