Mingyuan Hu is a Chinese British historian of art and literature. She read Classics, Philosophy, and Art History at the University of Glasgow, where she graduated top of the Faculty of Arts in 2008, winning the Herkless Prize. From the same university she received her PhD in Literary History in 2014.
From 2013 to 2014 Hu was a Visiting Scholar at the Victoria and Albert Museum. In 2015 she took up a Lectureship in Art History at the University of Leeds. Since 2018 she is Research Associate at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.[1]
Hu has published on art and intellectual histories in Europe and China with a focus on interwar years, and on Chinese painting and calligraphy.[2][3] Her archival research in Paris led to a groundbreaking study of the critic-translator Fou Lei.[4]
