John Nelson Arnold

John Nelson Arnold (1834–1909) was an American artist known for his portraits.[1][2][3]

He was born on June 4th, 1834 in Masonville, Windham County, Connecticut.[1]

His portraits of governors are located in the Rhode Island State House and others are in the Brown University Portrait Collection. He published Art and Artists in Rhode Island in 1905 and was also member of the Providence Art Club.

He married Clara L. Maxfield in 1908. At the time, he was 73 and she was 27.[2] He died on May 31st, 1909 and was buried in Providence, Rhode Island.[3]
