Oakland International High School
The school targets a population of students, newly arrived immigrants, who have historically been under-served nationally, in California, and in Oakland. The students are all English learners and at a low socioeconomic level which is what I will be working with during the summer.

An inclusive classroom is a term used within American pedagogy to describe a classroom in which all students irrespective of any of their attributes are welcome to attend. Inclusive classrooms are important for refugee students in order to create an environment in which they feel safe and not isolated due to their diverse sociocultural and perhaps socioeconomic backgrounds.
There are many inequalities in education that could prohibit students from receiving quality education that helps them further their realms of knowledge or obtain training they need to join the workforce later on in life. The lack of education or the disparity between the incomes generated by different education levels is an interesting issue that plays a role in the fundamental basis of poverty.

The first paragraph is very clear about San Francisco Bay Area as it introduces where it is geographically and the name that it is commonly referred to as. The content in the introduction includes important statistics about Bay Area and also the history of its origins. However, as Bay Area is such a densely populated region with rich culture, this page includes very clear structure that discusses not only its rich culture, but also demographics, geography, education, government, and other essential aspects.
The language used within the article is very neutral. The way the editors have made sure that the tone stays very neutral about topics such as demographics, crime, or education is through the use of statistics. Many of the points are backed up with a statistic and doesn't include opinions about the region, but rather lets the reader form their own assumptions based on these statistics. These statistics are also from reliable sources with authoritative publications, meaning it's not likely to be drawn from a platform or medium that is open for opinions such as blogs.
The first section of the Wiki article is pretty long and a little dense, so perhaps some of the information can be reassigned to one of its many subheadings. This article addresses many aspects of educational inequality such as race, gender, or disabilities, which is great because it is such a multifaceted issue. The structure of the article is that a lot of the paragraphs are large blocks of text so I think the structure can definitely be fleshed out so that it is more organised and less tiring to read.
They address issues of race such as segregation in the US in the early twentieth century and there's a whole section for the Latino students, but there seems to be a lack of discussion or research on Asian or Middle Eastern refugees. The language is also pretty neutral, a matter of fact tone. Every statistic is backed up by a citation and they seem to be from reliable sources that has conducted reliable research.

Characteristics of Contrasting Chinatowns. 2. Oakland, California [1]
This chapter discusses characteristics of Chinatown in Oakland, such as the lack of bilingual services as a barrier to mental health institutions for many Asian American or refugees in Chinatown, poverty levels in the city, etc. Demographically, the people in the study are mostly foreign-born immigrants that have been in the US from five years to sixty years. They found that the Asian Americans rarely seek help because if they are feeling mentally unwell, they reach out to informal resources such as family, relatives, and friends. The study also shows that many of the Chinatown residents have trouble communicating in English, which probably prevents them from seeking help. Chinatown is a community that needs to direct more attention and resources at crises prevention and promotion of mental health.

Supporting refugee students in schools: what constitutes inclusive education[2]
This study investigates the role of education as an institution and its role in helping refugee children settle into their new host countries through examining the involuntary migration and the inclusion difficulties that refugees face. The case studies of four different schools analyse the different inclusive approaches that were developed at each school to accommodate for the needs of young people from refugee backgrounds. Good practice or ethos of refugee education include 3 main discourses: a welcoming environment (free of racism), need to meet psycho-social needs (especially if there is trauma), and linguistic needs.
Adding to an Article
I am interested in adding to the Educational Inequality article with either more cited research or creating a new page called Education Inequality in the Bay Area. I think my scholarly source for supporting refugee students in schools can help add to the Educational Inequality in a new section called "Progressive Techniques).
