Merger proposal

I believe Indian Bull Terrier should be merged into this article as its about the same dog. What are other peoples opinions? Dwanyewest (talk) 15:48, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see an article for Indian Bull Terrier, and the one you placed in Draft is a redirect. Are you asking that the redirect be created? Do you have any sources for this to confirm? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:31, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This Facebook post says they're different. [1] this one mentions Gull Terr and Pakistani Bull Terrier but not Indian [2] See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gull Dong AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:36, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistan and India as originator

Map of British India (1911)

I recognize that these countries have their differences. I feel for you.
That being said, I think that the present borders between them are irrelevant to this origin myth. Indeed, the borders have fluctuated and been malleable long before these nations were split. Moreover, the landrace and breed can fairly be assumed to have crossed whatever borders may have existed. Dogs are no respecter of national pedigree! Further, dog breeders are notorious for sharing their stock.
To the extent that the British were involved (in both places), the breeding stock and its patrimony gets ever more confusing, I am sure. And once again, the borders were irrelevant. The credit and/or blame for this breed (I am not a huge fan) is shared.
Additionally, WP:Verifiability governs in Wikipedia, not WP:Truth.
So Coexistence in this article and a truce in Wikipedia hurts no one. 7&6=thirteen () 21:13, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am in complete agreement with you User:7&6=thirteen. In 1947, Pakistan was created through the partition of India; naturally much of the flora and fauna, such as the Gull Terrier, are found on both sides of the border. Nationalists on both sides of the border are trying to claim this dog breed for themselves, despite the fact that it originated in a time when the country was undivided. Right now, the Punjab region, where this breed originates, is shared between India and Pakistan. As such, the solution to this problem is to include both India and Pakistan as the country of origin for this breeds, which is what reliable sources state. With the multiple names assigned to this breed, I have moved the majority of them to the infobox and have also footnoted them, in order to prevent more edit warring by nationalists; terms that do not mention "India" or "Pakistan" are safe for the lede, such as the simple "Gull Terrier" or "Gull Terr". I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 08:51, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template for breeds originating in Pakistan

We have a template like that for India. I think I may have been was the one who created it. We need a similar one for Pakistan. Which then should be placed in this article. 7&6=thirteen () 21:28, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
