Aristides M. Tsatsakis is the Professor of Toxicology and Director of the Laboratory of Toxicology & Forensic Sciences at the Medical School of the University of Crete[1] and the University Hospital of Heraklion.

Aristides Tsatsakis studied Chemical Engineering at the Mendeleev University[2] (Moscow, 1980) and completed his MSc in Chemistry (1982) and PhD in Organic Chemistry (1986).

Tsatsakis is Emeritus Professor for the Federal Institute of Hygiene and Toxicology in Moscow (2014), Doctor Honorary Causa of the D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (2016), of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), Vladivostok 2017 and of the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (2017).[3]

In 2018 he was elected full member of The World Academy of Sciences (FMWAS).

Research work

His research work focuses on the development and improvement of methods for the analysis of xenobiotics, biomonitoring and recording of their acute and long-term effects on human health, the use of macromolecular systems and their toxicity, length of telomeric ends in cellular aging and their association with chronic diseases, nanomedicine and nanotoxicology.

Tsatsakis has published well over 1000 works (articles in journals, books and abstracts proceedings), over 500 of them in ISI journals.
