Maybe this article could also mention the references Jaiden Animations put in YouTube Rewind 2018 (such as PewDiePie's chair and the "Sub 2 P" on the shelf in the background). VibeScepter (talk) (contributions) 10:49, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to have the power to edit this article because I would like to put down more content about this article. I believe that in the PewDiePie support section it should mention that Mr. Beast was the catlyst for the subscribe to PewDiePie movement and the leading cause of the attention that content creators have given him in this "battle" I also believe more content could be added about the other supporters and to other parts of the article like the Other section could be improved on and a better stream could be choosen because FlareTV has shown bias towards the PewDiePie camp(i.e holding the record for most repeats of Bitch Lasagna). While a stream like the SocialBlade stream has had more content and has not shown bias towards either side. Thank you. BMO4744 (talk) 21:17, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a trick for PewDiePie to gain even more REAL subscribers?

I noticed that T-Series and PewDiePie had been only 100,000-300,000 subscribers apart for months, but never passed each other. It makes me think it could be intentional to trick people into subscribing to PewDiePie to prevent T-Series from winning. So maybe PewDiePie or someone bought subscribers for T-Series just to trick people into subscribing to PewDiePie so PewDiePie would gain REAL subscribers and not fake bought subscribers who wouldn't watch videos. Sub count stream change

The FlareTV stream is very biased towards PewDiePie and I am thinking about changing it to something more neutral. I believe the Socialblade stream would be more fitting. If you oppose or have another stream that would be better please commentBMO4744 (talk) 15:43, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The original FlareTV stream was taken down because of copyright issues (which have since been resolved). I don't think it's even known who owns that channel, it just got very popular. I put a link to the Social Blade stream because it's more formal live subscription count. FallingGravity 19:09, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Formality

The article should be more formal. Introducing the article by saying "PewDiePie vs T-Series is a competition" sounds casual as it was never official. Neither side officially challenged the other as they would in an organized competition. T-Series simply gained subscribers and approached PewDiePie's sub count. This is what I think would be a better way to begin the article:

"T-Series has been projected to surpass PewDiePie in subscribers and become the most-subscribed channel on the video-sharing website, YouTube."

The first section is also informal due to its title, "Belligerents". "Belligerent" is a term only formally used in the context of war and they are recognized under international law which does not apply to either channel. I propose that the section instead be called "Channels involved".0737290632t2x273n (talk) 15:15, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There need to be a part added where it explains that tseries overtook pewdiepie briefly after an inactive sub purge took away 20,000 of pewdiepies subs, leaving tseries with a 2,000 subgap over pewdiepie.

Line chart?

I was thinking about a section titled "Events" or something similar. It would include the content currently in the "Other events" section plus the various projections over the months as to when would T-Series surpass PewDiePie. I'd put the section between the Background and Activism sections. I'm asking if there should be a line chart showing the numbers of subscribers of PewDiePie and T-Series (see e.g. this chart). The only problem in my opinion is that this could go on indefinitely and that it would be hard to determine the "end" of the rivalry. We probably shouldn't engage in original research to determine that, although I think that this would end with T-Series permanently surpassing PewDiePie (unlikely), T-Series' subscriber number plateauing after all of India has a chance to subscribe to T-Series or some other new channel(s), or finally one of the two deleting their channel. wumbolo ^^^ 11:10, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article currently has something like my idea (the Competition section). However, I'd move the live stream information and the YouTube response back to the Response section, possibly in new sub-sections titled "YouTube" and "Other events". That would leave the Competition section almost empty, but it can be filled with the wide variety of speculations and progress. Having a properly-cited list of the passings seems like a great idea to me. When there's consensus on the issues I've mentioned, I believe that this article will have a high-quality structure. wumbolo ^^^ 22:21, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response section is incomplete

PewDiePie uploads videos in "response" to T-Series all the time, mostly it's just the title and a short remark at the beginning. But since the "I might as well upload this since we are losing" video is listed, should maybe the others be listed as well?

So there are at least 9 additional videos about it or mentioning it, with similar relevance to the topic as the "since we are losing" video. Should they all be in the article? I don't think that's useful, he'll continue to make one of these every few days anyway. Fabian42 (talk) 16:17, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We should try to only include what is reported in a reliable source and cite it. I agree that a general statement about his videos should be enough. wumbolo ^^^ 17:05, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi Protected edit request 2nd march 2019

After the text "A number of PewDiePie's fans and supporters have also been making anti-Indian remarks and using racial slurs."

It would be good to mention Pewdiepie's response, because I feel otherwise it seems a bit biased:

"You've probably seen these livestreams where it's pewdiepie vs t-series. But there's a part of this I really don't like. And it's a shame because it isn't the vast majority of people. But sometimes, in these comments (and you guys have told me this as well), you see comments such as fuck indians or fuck indians c-word. Just really distasteful and unnecessary comments. And I obviously make Indian jokes and stuff like that. But I do that of all countries and this not what I'm about and I know my fanbase isn't about this either."

A shortened version of this should be included in the article.

Evidence:

Timestap - 2:40

By the way, pewdiepie's own video where he says his response is a reliable source, because it is a Primary source where he says his statement on camera.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is already mentioned in the section about PewDiePie's response. However, I wouldn't be opposed to having something like "... which PewDiePie has condemned" with a link to the section below elaborating on it. wumbolo ^^^ 22:50, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PewDiePie lost 20,000 subs one time, dropping him below T-series, which broke his streak for longest time most subbed channel... The proof video ID is: NOZ25E9vUc0 -24.180.87.149 (talk) 14:20, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think the title "Subscribe to PewDiePie" (quote marks included) fits better this article

Reasoning:

1. It's nowhere near factual "PewDiePie VS T-Series" provided neither of them have, not jokingly, declare themselves in a competition for subscribers. Moreover, this has all the features of an organized movement- subscribers have made more echo about the issue, being guided by a reason (of sorts) and having a fixed goal (keeping PewDiePie as the most subscribed YouTube channel).

2. I think the format "X vs Y" doesn't respect the principle of Neutral Point of View, since the format is explicitly to convey a protagonist dueling an opponent. In this case, "PewDiePie vs T-Series" not only reflects the preference of the editors, but their geographical location (not so accurately but still) as well.

Eligio Budde (talk) 02:50, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Champion vs challenger" is a fine and neutral format. wumbolo ^^^ 09:01, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If anything, the paragraph looks a bit messy if you are to include that bit, exactly where is it right now. Maybe creating a new paragraph with milestones about events would be better.

Why does this project fall under Wikiproject India?

Even though T-Series is an India based music company I do not see why this mock war should be under the India banner. It is a full on YouTube and Internet culture project. If it does fall under this banner. Why shouldn't it fall under Wikiproject Europe because PewDiePie is from Europe. BMO4744 (talk) 23:49, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, for one thing, Europe is a continent, and India is a country. More importantly, this article is specifically part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian music, since T-Series is a record company and music channel. That project is a sub-project for the larger Wikiproject India one. This article isn't particularly relevant to India as a country, but it seems more plausibly relevant to Music of India. As far as I know, there is no Wikipedia:WikiProject Swedish video game players or similar, and if their is, by all means, add the project. Otherwise, unless you are interested in Indian music, don't worry about it. Grayfell (talk) 00:14, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clearing that up. I thought because of the Indian flag and the fact that the banner had Wiki-project India / music that it was both India and Indian music. BMO4744 (talk) 00:30, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. It's not clearly explained, is it? WikiProject Indian music is a child-project of both WikiProject India and WikiProject Music. These projects each cover tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of articles. Grayfell (talk) 01:02, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

FlareTV Stream versus Social Blade stream

I keep getting my edits marked as "original research" when I am simply attempting to state facts, without partiality. The fact is that the FlareTV stream is presently playing "Bitch Lasagna" in a loop, as PewDiePie is currently the most-subscribed channel. It is also attracting more viewers, and while there is tons of spam (like "T Gay"), we might need a better source for that. The Social Blade stream, on the other hand, plays a variety of music (not the Lasagna song) and has fewer viewers, but less spam problems. I'd like to incorporate most to all of this information in the article. --LABcrabs (talk) 17:10, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
