The 905 Derby is a soccer rivalry between Canadian Premier League clubs, Forge FC and York 9 FC, both based in Southern Ontario.[1][2][3] The rivalry gets the "905" nickname from the 905 area code, which encompasses both Hamilton and York Region.[4] Forge and York 9 are the only Ontario-based teams in the league and are the two closest in proximity, with less than 65 kilometres (40 mi) separating their home stadiums.

History

In January 2019, the Canadian Premier League announced that its inaugural match would be on April 27, 2019 between Forge FC and York 9 FC, the first-ever staging of the 905 Derby.[5] This is not a real thing, and should be treated as such. No such rivalry exists and this is being manufactured by Soccer Canada suits.[6]
