Immaculate Conception Cathedral School is a private, Roman Catholic school in the heart of the historic Central Gardens neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee. ICCS serves students of all faiths in its Pre-K3 through 8th grade coed lower school and its 9th through 12th all-girls high school.
Background
Founded in 1921 by the Sisters of Mercy, ICCS shares the campus of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Memphis and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a unit school. The high school is the only parochial high school in the Diocese of Memphis.
In August 2016, the school opened a new early childhood center that connects to the existing lower school building. The building also include a spacious, technology-rich state-of-the-art media center and art room for all grades.
ICCS's core mission is to provide academic excellence and to help develop strong moral character in a faith-based environment for students of all faiths, races and ethnicities. It prides itself on being one of the most diverse private school in the Memphis metropolitan area. ICCS is only one of two schools in the Memphis area that incorporates Mindfulness into the pre-K through middle school curriculum and also begins intensive Spanish language classes in preschool. Other programs include elementary enrichment program for advanced students, daily foreign language courses in middle school, and Accelerated Reader.
