Hussein Akkouche,[2] professionally known as Samra, is a German rapper from Berlin.[3][4]

Biography

Born in 1995,[citation needed], Samra (then working under the stage name Samra45) first came to attention on the German rap scene in the autums of 2016 as a guest performer on Alpa Gun's album Zurück zur Straße, particularly on the track "Chaos" that dissed 187 Strassenbande.[1] and that he described as a big mistake shortly after.[2]

In 2017, Bushido signed Samra to his label EGJ.[5]

In June 2018, Samra reached number one as a featured artist on Bushido's "Für euch alle".[6]

In October 2018 he was briefly arrested in Prague after someone called the police about four armed men staying in a hotel. As it turned out, Samra and his film crew were filming a music video. Among the weapons that the police found were pistols, a machete, an RGD-5 hand grenade and an RPG-75 anti-tank rocket launcher.[7]

In November 2018, at age 23, Samra scored his first solo number 1 in Germany with the song "Cataleya",[8][9][10][11] produced by Bushido.[2]

In January 2019, it was reported that Samra left Bushido's label.[12]

In March 2019, Samra together with Capital Bra reached number 1 Germany with the song "Wir ticken".[13]

Stage name

According to Laut.de, the rapper's choice of stage name is rather unusual:[1] Samra is an Arabic woman's name that means "Dark".[1][14][15]
