Halford (band)
Halford |
---|
"Halford" was formed in 2000 by then ex-lead Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford and is an attempt to return back to his old heavy metal roots after ending two previous projects Fight & Two which had a more Industrial Metal sound. Halford came back screaming with a vengeance, his first album Resurrection managed to make the cut into Martin Popoff's The Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time as well as the songs "Silent Screams" & the title-track itself "Resurrection" ranking in the book The Top 500 Heavy Metal Songs of All Time. As an extra surprise for newly-found Halford fans, the track "The One You Love To Hate" guest features Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson which can be heard on the studio album Resurrection as well as his live offering Live Insurrection. The song has also been performed live with Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate.
In 2002 Halford released his second studio album Crucible, However no live recordings have been officially released to promote this album, a high-quality soundboard bootleg "Live - From The Disney House Of Blues" was made availible for download at Robhalford.com in 2004. And this far is the only representation of live Crucible tracks. Although there are no live tracks, Halford did flurrish some countries (namely Japan) with bonus tracks; "She", "Fugitive", "Rock The World Forever" and "In The Morning". There is a video for the track "In The Morning" which can be watched at Robhalford.com.
Metal God Entertainment
On June 1st, 2006, Rob Halford announced that he would break away from the ill-fated Sanctuary Records and form a new record company, called Metal God Entertainment. With this new record company, the singer did not hesitate using his power and announced that he planned a release for some DVDs that contained footage of his solo outings, including a documentary on his departure from Judas Priest and the forming of Fight, as well as a video recording of his 2001 performance at Rock in Rio III. In addition to this, he planned on remastering his back catalogue and initially releasing them through Apple's iTunes. Rare unreleased material is also set to be released through iTunes, including demos from the early Fight sessions.
On November 20th, 2006, Halford celebrated his releases with the debut of the single set to be on the upcoming Halford IV album, titled "Forgotten Generation." This was well received by fans, and is the first Halford track to be released in four years since the reunion of Judas Priest.
With his new record company, Rob has announced many plans for the future. He noted there are several other DVD possibilities as well as more releases from Fight, 2wo, and Halford, but he also pointed out that he wished to produce for many younger metal bands.
Lastly, Rob noted the follow-up to Crucible titled Halford IV will be released under MGE, but will have to be held back until 2007 or later, due to Judas Priest's schedule of writing and recording their Nostradamus concept album.
