Gronk Oz: I am battle weary on this one. I would appreciate some help adding a new citation and the reference for it!ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia (talk) 02:36, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Here is the entry I'm editing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spasmodic_dysphonia

Here is the text I wish to reference:

Dr. Herbert H. Dedo was the first to utilize this approach.

Here is the citation:

H. Dedo, Herbert & Behlau, Mara. (1991). Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Section for Spastic Dysphonia: 5- to 14-Year Preliminary Results in the First 300 Patients. The Annals of otology, rhinology, and laryngology. 100. 274-9. 10.1177/000348949110000403. ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia (talk) 02:36, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia: references can be trickier than they first seem. We'll get it sorted out. The first thing I notice is that reference 45 appears to be exactly what you describe above. So far so good. Then I noticed that it is identical to ref 46 (I just noticed because it immediately follows it) so what we really want to have is one citation, referenced at two places in the article.
Done Looking at the code, that reference was defined where you indicate, and also at the end of the one-line History section. The second version had slightly more information, e.g. both authors, so I decided to keep that one. I named it by changing the ref to "<ref name=Dedo1991>". Then I changed the other one (as you describe above) to use that named reference, i.e. ""<ref name=Dedo1991/>" (note the / at the end to indicate there is nothing more to come). I don't know if that description makes sense - it might be easier to look at the actual code. Anyway, please feel free to get back in touch if you have questions, or if I'm not available the good folks at the Teahouse are always willing to help. --Gronk Oz (talk) 03:58, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia: AARGH - Three times I have made those changes now, and every time they get rejected because you are editing the article at the same time. Let me know when you're done so I can change it. --Gronk Oz (talk) 04:07, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia: Such edit clashes are one of the challenges of using Wikipedia. There was a break in editing, so I had another go at it. I see that you have moved that sentence into History now, immediately after that reference is already used. Not sure if that was just to get around the problem, or if it's what you really wanted. In the interim, I have made the changes above although they look peculiar now because Ref. 45 is used twice, but they are on successive sentences in the same paragraph. So if you leave everything in its current place, you probably don't need both references. However, if you move one back where it was then you can take the ref with it, and it should work fine. --Gronk Oz (talk) 04:34, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help with references

Gronk Oz - I didn't realize you were trying to edit the actual entry; assumed that you would try to teach me how to do it. Anyway, your suggestions were good and I have learned a lot tonight. I hope I didn't go back in and "fix" it again before I saw them! I will check again tomorrow after coffee. I appreciate the advice. Good night! ConsumerWithSpasmodicDysphonia (talk) 04:19, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's all good - see my comments above about what I have done. --Gronk Oz (talk) 04:41, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Marcello Costa

On 17 March 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marcello Costa, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Marcello Costa spent his career researching the links between the nervous system and the gut? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marcello Costa. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Marcello Costa), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

@Movingframes: I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are asking for. That YouTube video seems to be the trailer for a movie. But your comment talks about adding a category ... what category do you want added, to what article?--Gronk Oz (talk) 08:13, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yaara ve Co Producer.

Dear Sir, Sorry for the vague message. Actually I added the Co-producers name and their company to the page, however it was edited out. here is the link for your reference

Co-producer- Nazar Abbas and Shamsi Abbas Co-production company- Freshly ground entertainment Private Limited http://www.freshlyground.co.in/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Movingframes (talkcontribs) 09:48, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

@Movingframes: I guess you are talking about article Yaara Ve (film). I see that you put in that information, and it was removed by an anonymous IP editor with this edit: [1]. They did not leave any reason for the edit, but I imagine it is because the source did not support it. The source says "Produced by Bally Singh Kakar, it would release..." The link you give above does not mention those co-producers either. I am no expert on film articles, but I imagine an article about a film that has not been released yet would not normally include co-producers. --Gronk Oz (talk) 11:54, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to St Augustine's College pages

Hi GronkOz,

My name is David Gilbert. I am the Archivist at St Augustine's College - Sydney - formally Brookvale. It appears that you are making edits to our School page. Would you be able to contact me to discuss this? my email is gilbert.d@saintaug.nsw.edu.au.

Many thanks.

Lianne.Williams (talk) 04:55, 2 April 2019 (UTC)David[reply]

@Lianne.Williams: Hello, David. Given your role, it is vital that you declare your Conflict of Interest for this article - see WP:COI for details. In the meantime, I have placed a COI tag on the article so the situation is declared. I prefer to keep communications on Wikipedia here, where they are visible to all editors. I made some minor changes to St Augustine's College (New South Wales), and I am very happy to discuss any of them. If there is a specific edit you would like to discuss, by all means raise it here. In general, the best place to discuss is on the Talk page for that article (i.e. Talk:St Augustine's College (New South Wales)), so that all editors can contribute and agree on how to proceed. After all, this is not "your page" - it is an article that all editors are encouraged to contribute to, just like every article on Wikipedia. As the archivist, I am sure you will be in a unique position to contribute to the article so I look forward to that.--Gronk Oz (talk) 07:12, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your help desk response

I no longer answer questions on either the Help Desk or The Teahouse, but I do notify people they got a response if they didn't respond on the page where they asked or they didn't get pinged or otherwise notified after the question was archived, and they are new to Wikipedia. And sometimes I get mixed up and notify them they got a response in the wrong place and have to fix it. No one noticed that you forgot where you were.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 17:13, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OOPS! I hope that didn't cause any confusion for the person who asked. Thanks for alerting me, Vchimpanzee. --Gronk Oz (talk) 02:53, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reversing a 12 year old merge?

Can't quite figure why you reverse a 2007 merge of an unreferenced piece of inworld WP:CRUFT at The Knack (Dilbert episode) with this edit leaving the edit note "Wikify punctuation for quotes per MOS:QUOTEMARKS"? What am I missing? Klbrain (talk) 18:08, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Klbrain: Mea culpa, I didn't realize I was doing that. Serial Number 54129 has reverted it, so it's in a good state now. If you're interested in how it happened, I saw a Userbox on somebody's page which says he has "the knack" and links to this page. I followed the link out of curiosity, and I did not notice that it led to an old version of the page. I just noticed that the quotation marks were wrong so I fixed them. Of course, that brought back the whole old page. I should have noticed but I didn't - I'm glad you and 54129 are on the ball and caught my error - thank you. --Gronk Oz (talk) 02:48, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the detail; easily done; I've learn something else I need to avoid inadvertently doing! Klbrain (talk) 03:08, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's really interesting Gronk, thanks for the story! It's funny where wiki-rabbit holes lead isn't it :) ——SerialNumber54129 08:24, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
