Tharparkar (Dhatki ضِلع تھرپارکر , Hindi: थारपारकर, Gujarati: થારપારકર, Template:Lang-ur,Template:Lang-sd) is a desert in Pakistan. The region derives its names from Thar and Parkar. The name Thar is from Thul, the general term for sand region or sand ridges and Parkar literary means “to cross over”.
Issues in Tharparkar
Thar people face various issues due to waterborne diseases, inadequate health facilities, famine and lack of basic infrastructure.
January 28, 2016: Taking notice of the death of infants in Thar, the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) directed the Sindh Chief Secretary to submit report on cases of death.[1]
