Shishir Bhattyacharja (born 04 August 1963) is a Bangladeshi linguist, writer, columnist, and a professor of the French language at the University of Dhaka.[1] He is also the Director of the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka.[2][3] He has written extensively on the use of the Bengali language in Bangladesh.
Born in Sitakunda, Chattogram, he did MA and MPhil in linguistics at Paris-Sorbonne University and took a second MA in Indology. He received his PhD from the University of Montreal, Canada. He did his post-doctorate at the Institute of State Language in Tokyo.
