Arkeisha Knight (born March 14, 1992),[1] known professionally as Kash Doll, is an American model and rapper signed to Republic Records. She is best known for her single "For Everybody" which garnered over 10 million views on YouTube prior to her record deal. Kash Doll is an opening performer for Meek Mill's 2019 The Motivation Tour.[2][3]

Early life

Kash Doll was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She has wanted to rap since she was a child.[4] She previously worked at strip clubs and then quit to pursue a music career. While working at strip clubs she would rap and earn money from customers without having to dance. She once made $26,000 in a single night.[5]

She adopted the moniker Kash Doll because she is focused on achieving financial success and because she dresses like a “Doll".[6]

Career

Early on, Kash Doll would manage her own own bookings, performing in local clubs and at schools, traveling by herself to nearby venues, doing charity events and gaining popularity in the Detroit area.[7] Kash Doll would later sign a deal with a local record company in Detroit and after it fell through she began to use social media and Instagram heavily to build a following by releasing short videos of herself rapping.[6] After someone saw one of her Instagram videos, she was paid for a feature and then invited to open for Chief Keef.[4] She currently has over 2.7 million followers.[2] Rihanna invited her to hang out based on Kash Doll's Instagram page.[6] In addition, Drake used Instagram to invite her to open a show for him on his Summer Sixteen tour stop in Detroit.[4][5]

Kash Doll first received national attention when she remixed Tinashe's single "2 On" in 2015. She then released a video for a single called "Run Me My Money", which went viral in 2015. That same year she dropped her mixtape, Keisha vs Kash Doll.[4]

In December 2017, Kash Doll achieved her first feature on a major record when she appeared on Big Sean and Metro Boomin's single "So Good."[2] After being released from her previous deal, on July 16, 2018 she dropped an EP called The Vault on streaming platforms. One music video, "For Everybody," achieved over 10 million views on YouTube.[8]

She released a mixtape called Brat Mail on her birthday in 2018. It was dedicated to her fans, who she refers to as "bratz."[9] It was 22 minutes long and received mostly positive critical reviews. Brian Josephs at Pitchfork.com wrote, "Brat Mail often feels like a victory lap run before the official race has even started. There’s a self-congratulatory vibe that makes the effort needlessly low stakes, ultimately refracting her natural charisma in ways that sound rote."[1] Xavier Hamilton wrote for Vibe.com, "the rapper maintains a crazy sexy cool flow with features from Scrilla and R&B songbird Natasha Mosley."

In August 2018, Kash Doll signed a record deal with Republic Records. She then released her first single as a part of that deal, "Ice Me Out."[10] She released a remix featuring 2 Chainz in February 2019.[11]

She released a track called "Chanel Slides" with rapper Dreezy in January 2019.[12] A full-length album is coming in April 2019.[12]
