Bronwyn Hayward
Bronwyn Mary Hayward is a New Zealand political scientist.[1] Her areas of research are democracy, sustainability and young people.[2]
Biography
Hayward was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. She attended Riccarton High School and then moved to Dunedin to study at the University of Otago. She completed bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in political science and geography at Otago.[3]
Hayward is considered a world expert on sustainability and youth politics. She was a lead author on UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5 ºC.[4]
Hayward is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Canterbury. She is also director of the University of Canterbury's Sustainable Citizenship and Civic Imagination: Hei Puāwaitanga research group and leads a study following children and young people growing up in seven world cities including post-quake Christchurch.[1][5]
